11 days ago - esther's january 20th 2009

hello! sorry to be late, but it's fashionable, and i am a superficial bitch so the timing of this post suits me.

inauguration day! in celebration, i took the day off of work to revel in the fact we have a new president. besides, if i would have gone to work, i probably would have cut someone.

still evil

see ya later evil dick cheney! srsly, who looks that evil in a wheelchair? dick the devil cheney.

i was so happy. i cried.

afterwards, i went to get my learn on.

the long way

the shuttle was so insanely packed that day i had to awkwardly hang over an even more awkward guy. and the driver kept giving me dirty looks.

the professor

it's queer theory with genius/professor kathryn stockton. she is so cool. a friend of mine has a theory that she's into asphixiation, hence the mock turtlenecks. i think she is just really cold.

after class i visit my friend irene. i secretly think of her as my mentor.

1001 cranes

she had this amazing... THING hanging from her ceiling. 1000 cranes she made for her daughter's wedding. she told me when i got married she would make them for me too! now i have to get married, if only for that gift. put that on my list of things to do...

take a very empty shuttle back to my car.

day 20

this was my picture of the day for the 365 day photo project. one of my favorites.

bleh, haze.

jessica and i went to sage's market.

men's pocky

men's pocky. it's bitter. like men. ha!

logo for a freight company

this is the logo for a freight company - i always see their trucks around my work and LOVE it so much!

we go to a park and eat our goods in bitter ass cold.

to kill more time without losing our toes, we go to toys r us.

my god, the pink.

now they're manufacturing board games for girls. pink monopoly! you can be a chihuahua, a cell phone or sunglasses. the boutique edition also comes in a pink carrying case reminiscent of a jewelry box. my god, are gender roles being so threatened we need to reinforce them like THIS?

en garde!

jessica and i duel with stuffed animals. i won. totally.

lolz, jessica.

sup suckas

we left, and i bought the high school musical version of mystery date for $4.40. SO GOOD! WHO WILL PLAY WITH ME?! we went to pagoda and i ate my favorite thing ever, chicken tats. so delicious, not to be confused with tater tots (bleh).

light in my tea

a light in my tea cup!

that's not vague at all.

then i went home to find my textbooks had arrived!

played some video games, read a little and went to bed. pretty good day.

30 January 2009

I'm a bad photo person

I left my camera at home. My camera phone sucks. Next time I'll do better I promise.

23 January 2009

Having Lost some photos from my camera, I was able to just give a skeletal impression of this smoggy workday, but here it is.

21 January 2009

Another Tuesdee...

Good evening everyone,

Here is my day. Once again, since it started in my room, I decided to take some close ups of some more wierd crap that I have. Also, it was an excuse to play with my macro stuff on my camera, which I don't do too much, and should do more of. The practice would have made these pictures better:

Then outside, some nieghborhood dogs got loose, and this guy had it under control (phew!):

Then it was off to school (again), and here are some pictures outside the math building. They are pretty blurry, but I liked them though:

And I came home to From Russia with Love asleep in my bed. Aaaawwww:

yessymika's january day

i tried to wake up early so i could watch the inauguration on tv. as i don't have one, this would have required going somewhere. which was too much effort at 9AM. 9AM is too early for jessicas. so i lay in bed and listened to it on npr.

20/365: maybe i'll smile today
i was feeling very hopeful. about the future. about the present. about the country. everything. later on in the day i started feeling a bit hopeless again, but i had a nice wallow and a good cry, and felt better afterwards. now i'm choosing to have faith, that things will improve.

i tried to go to work. but they didn't want me. so i came home again, and as i was waiting for esther to come over i wandered around behind my apartment. this is my garage. i love the texture.

my neighbor has been counting down bush's last days in office on her little christmas board. i loved coming home, walking pass her door, and seeing "5 days!" "3 days!" "1 day!" and finally... ta da!

esther and i drove over to sage market for some tasty snacks. i did not buy a bag full of garlic, but i did buy some little bowls with pigs on them, and shrimp chips.

we went over to the fairy park, sat on a bench, drank some very cold sodas (brrrrr) and decided to write a pamphlet called "social consciousness for dummies." also, i found a hat.

to warm up, and for lack of any other ideas, we went to toys r' us. we tried to find some $5 gifts for each other, but failed. toys r' us sucks. also, PINK GAMES? do girls really need every game remade in PINK?! what's the point of pink monopoly? or jenga?

last we went to pagoda for some tasty chicken tats. we did not eat sushi. a man came and sat at a table near us. he was alone and consumed a large amount of california rolls by himself. he stared at us the entire time, and drank a beer.

came home and watched Zombie Strippers. because nothing says "history" like naked dead girls.

the end.
